What to expect
On the day of your appointment(s) with us, we ask the following:
Once an appointment has been made, a reminder SMS and email will be sent 48hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. (Should we have a valid cellphone number and e-mail address).
Bring someone with you as we will dilate both your pupils for a thorough eye examination. Your accompanist will need to drive you back home.
It is best to bring a pair of sunglasses with, as you will be light sensitive for the rest of the day.
Bring your referral letter (and any other additional information) from your referring doctor with to your first consultation.
Bring a list of your medication(s) and eye drop(s) with to your first consultation.
Bring your spectacles with on every consultation (no contact lenses).
At every consultation, our patients will be taken through for pre-tests before seeing our Ophthalmologists. This includes:

Visual Acuity

Intra-ocular pressures
-
Pupils
-
Dilation (if required)
-
Auto-refraction
-
Biometry
-
OPTOS wide-field imaging
-
OCT
If any procedure(s) was performed on the day of your consultation (in rooms), our staff members will assist in obtaining authorization from your medical aid on your behalf.
If you require any eye surgery(s), the surgery will take place at the Johannesburg Eye Hospital in Nortcliff (1.7km from our practice).
If you travel from far and require accommodation in and around Northcliff, there are a few guest houses in the area that will be able to accommodate you.

No eye make-up (including foundation around the eyes)
No videos and recordings in consulting rooms
Family members/Accompanists to wait in the waiting area at this stage, but will be called in once the patient sees our Ophthalmologists
